Susannah and Caleb were married at Westwynd Gardens in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania with a small group of their closest people present and it was the sweetest winter afternoon!
They chose to keep the day intentionally small and centered on their closest family and friends, especially the guest of honor…their daughter, Natalie.
From the moment she saw her parents all dressed and ready, she fully believed she was living inside a real-life fairytale. When Caleb turned around for their first look, she looked up at him and said, “Daddy, are you the prince?” A moment I’ll always remember!
February weddings in Pennsylvania can feel unpredictable, but Westwynd Gardens gives you something most venues don’t: a greenhouse that serves as a space that connects you to the outdoors without being cold. It protects you from the wind, filters in soft light and allows you to stay present instead of battling against the cold.
If you’re getting married at Westwynd Gardens in winter, plan to use the greenhouse intentionally. It serves as such a beautiful ceremony space that keeps guests connected to the outdoors, yet comfortably warm! This is an element you really can’t find anywhere else in Chester County.
The two balconies off the getting ready suite are so practical in colder months! They allow you to step outside for portraits without committing to long stretches in the cold. For Susannah and Caleb, we went upstairs, grabbed her heirloom veil and their furs, stepped out for a few minutes of outdoor portraits and then came right back inside.
Even in February, I always recommend stepping outside briefly for couple portraits. The architecture at Westwynd Gardens combined with the open winter landscape gives you such a peaceful moment together. Having coats, shawls or furs ready makes the outdoors a little more bearable in the cold!
Westwynd Gardens was intentionally designed and in winter that really matters! The indoor spaces are filled with natural light and there are multiple fireplaces that add character and intention in winter.
Susannah and Caleb chose to do their first touch by one of the fireplaces before the ceremony. It felt natural in that setting and didn’t require anything added. The staircases, windows, and layered rooms give you multiple portrait options without ever stepping outside.
If you’re planning a winter wedding here, use the interior fully. It’s not just functional. It photographs beautifully.
Absolutely! The greenhouse helped keep Susannah and Caleb’s ceremony intimate without feeling tight or overly crowded, and the outdoor spaces don’t overwhelm a smaller group.
In colder months, the greenhouse offers privacy and beautiful light at any time of day while you can stay warm! But if I’m being honest, any area at Westwynd is truly gorgeous with great light, so you can’t go wrong.
Susannah and Caleb’s coverage lasted about 3 hours. That included getting ready, portraits, their first looks, first touch, a 3:30 ceremony, family portraits, couple portraits and a cake cutting. Without a reception, it felt like the right amount of time!
