I’m a Philadelphia wedding photographer who loves sharing thoughtful planning tips, real galleries and a few travel stories along the way. Whether you're here for wedding inspiration or just dreaming up your next adventure, I’m so glad you’re here. Let me know what you'd love to see more of!
Alyssa and Shane’s engagement session started in Everhart Park in West Chester, PA right as the cherry blossoms fell to create such a good atmosphere for their session! Going into this, we worked together to create something that actually felt like them. They wanted a session that reflected how they are together and you know that’s exactly how I plan engagement sessions👌
Alyssa and Shane like to keep things simple, so that’s exactly what we did. We focused on intentional time together to bring out their connection and brought in their favorite Philadelphia sports team, which fit them perfectly.
Everhart Park is one of the best spots for engagement photos in West Chester, especially in the spring!
Alyssa had mentioned she was hoping for cherry blossoms and everything lined up for it. We didn’t need to overdo anything since the location already gave us what we needed.
We started the session slow. Walking, talking, letting them ease into it instead of jumping straight into anything structured.
Alyssa shared she can feel self-conscious in photos, which is something I hear all the time. So we built the session in a way that didn’t make her feel like she had to get it right right away.
That’s always the turning point.
Once you stop thinking about how you look, you start being present. And that’s when everything starts to feel different.
After the park, we headed into downtown West Chester.
By this point, they were fully in it. Not thinking about the camera the same way, just moving through the session together.
We kept things simple here too. Walking through the streets, using what was already around us, not stopping every second to adjust or fix something.
Just enough direction so they never felt awkward, but not so much that it felt controlled.
This part felt the most like them in their everyday life, just a little more intentional.
Alyssa and Shane are big Phillies fans, so we brought that into the session in a way that made sense for them.
They threw on their jerseys and we kept moving through town the same way we had been.
Nothing changed except that detail, which is exactly the point.
When something is actually part of your life, it doesn’t need to be turned into something bigger. It already fits.
They brought Alyssa’s parents’ wedding champagne glasses and opened a bottle together.
It was her second time ever doing that, which made it feel even more like them.
This is the kind of thing that makes a session yours.
Not because it looks a certain way, but because it connects back to your life and your people.
Most couples think they need more ideas or better poses.
You don’t.
You need a plan that actually reflects you, not something you’re trying to keep up with.
