ToggleI photographed the Czyzewski family years ago, and when we met up again for family photos at Hibernia Mansion in Coatesville, PA, they had added TWO more kids to the crew!!
One of my favorite parts of being a family photographer is getting to see how much families change over the years. Kids who were little during our first session are suddenly so much older, their personalities have grown and sometimes there are a few new faces to meet! As a mom myself, it makes my heart so happy getting to capture these sweet memories for other parents.

And with FOUR kids this time around, we had a whole lot of personalities to photograph!
The Hibernia Mansion in Chester County, Pennsylvania, is my FAVORITE location for September portraits. Mix the pale yellow building with deep colored fall outfits and it is the perfect vibe for the beginning of fall!
It’s pretty amazing how much can change in just a few years and I’ so happy that the Czyzewski family will have photos from both seasons of their lives to look back on!
If it’s been a few years since your last family session, I’d love to help you update those photos, too! You can take a look at my family portrait experience to see what a session with me looks like!

If you’re looking for a beautiful location for family photos in Chester County, Hibernia Mansion in Coatesville, PA, is definitely one to consider!
The historic mansion sits within Hibernia County Park and has some gorgeous architectural details, greenery and outdoor spaces that give us plenty of variety throughout a session. There is a parking lot right on-site, which makes the location super convenient! And after the session? There is a playground for little ones to go play on once photos are over!
My favorite locations for family portraits are ones where there isn’t too much walking for the littles. We don’t want them tired out before the session even begins!
I’ll normally start with family portraits in the front of the mansion, move to the surrounding grounds and head to the back (closest to the parking lot) to grab some photos near the stone walkways.
This gives the kids a chance to move around, explore a little and stay engaged as we work through all the photos.
Hibernia County Park is located in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, and you can find current park information on the official Chester County website.

If you have a big family, you probably already know how much personality comes with getting everyone together for a picture!
And I LOVE it!
With four kids, there’s so much I want to capture during a family session.
Of course, we’ll get that big family photo with everyone looking at the camera. The one you’ll frame in your living room, send to the grandparents and probably use for your Christmas card!
But I also love getting everyone together for hugs and laughs, all the siblings together for a little game, photographing each child individually and making time for those smaller moments between family members.
Because every single kid has their own personality and those personalities change SO much as they grow. It’s my first priority to bring those personalities out for the camera!
Let’s plan your family photos!
One might be the comedian of the family, another might be a little shy and someone else might be ready to take charge of the entire session!

I always guide families through the photos we’re taking, especially when we have a larger group. We’ll get everyone set up, make sure we have the important combinations but the entire time will be focusing on giving the kids room to move around and have fun.
Those are actually my favorite photos! When the kids start interacting with each other, laughing with their parents or just being themselves.
And that’s exactly why I love having a mix of traditional family portraits and candid photos in every gallery. You get the beautiful photo of everyone together AND all the little personalities that make your family who they are!
If you’re planning a session with grandparents, cousins or multiple households, you can also check out my blog about extended family photos at Valley Forge National Historical Park for another example of how we photograph larger family groups!

There’s something so special about photographing the same family at different stages of their lives. The kids get older, they develop new interests, their relationships with each other change and the family looks a little different than it did a few years ago.
That’s one of the reasons I always encourage families to make time for photos throughout the years!
You get to have these little pieces of your family’s history documented along the way.
And years from now, when the kids are grown and everyone’s schedules are a little harder to coordinate, you’ll have photos of what life looked like when they were all under one roof.

The big family pictures, the sibling photos, their little faces and all the personalities that made this stage of life so much fun.
I love getting to be part of that for my returning families!

If you’re considering Hibernia Mansion for your family photos in Coatesville, PA, it’s a beautiful option for families who love historic architecture and outdoor scenery.
And whether you have one child or four, we’ll plan your session around your family!
Before your session, we’ll talk about your kids’ ages, what you’re planning to wear and any photos that are especially important to you.
I’ll help guide you through styling, choosing the best spots around the property and making sure we have plenty of variety in your gallery.
During the session, I’ll take care of directing everyone, organizing the group photos and helping the kids feel comfortable in front of the camera.
We’ll make time for the traditional family portraits you’ll want to frame, along with all the fun little moments happening in between.
Because these are the years you’ll want to remember!

Hibernia Mansion is located within Hibernia County Park in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, in Chester County.
The historic mansion and surrounding park grounds offer a variety of beautiful backdrops for family photos, including architecture, greenery and outdoor scenery.
Absolutely! Hibernia Mansion is a great option for families who love historic architecture and outdoor settings.
I especially love having several different backdrops within walking distance because it gives us plenty of variety throughout a session.
It’s also a beautiful option for larger families since we can move between locations while working through full-family portraits, sibling photos and individual pictures.
Of course!
I photograph families with children of all ages, and we’ll plan your session around what works best for your kids.
I’ll guide everyone through the family portraits, give the kids opportunities to move around and incorporate plenty of interaction throughout the session.
The Czyzewski family brought all six of their kids, and we had so many different family groupings to photograph!
I love coordinating colors that complement the location while giving everyone a little room to show their own style!
Neutral tones, earthy colors, soft blues, creams and muted shades can all look beautiful against the mansion’s historic architecture and surrounding greenery.
I also recommend choosing outfits that are comfortable for your children and shoes that work well for walking around the property.
And when you book your session with me, I’ll help you with styling so you can put together outfits that photograph beautifully together!
I always start with the full family together, and then we’ll work through different combinations based on who’s attending.
For families with children, I love including sibling photos, individual portraits of each child, pictures with each parent and a few photos of the parents together!
With larger families, I’ll guide everyone through the groupings so we can make the most of our session time and include plenty of variety.
Hibernia County Park offers beautiful outdoor scenery throughout the seasons!
Spring and summer are great for greenery, while fall brings changing leaves and beautiful seasonal colors to Chester County.
The best time for your family will depend on the look you love, your schedule and the availability of sessions.
I love seeing families come back every year, but even scheduling photos every few years gives you such a beautiful way to document how everyone is growing!
The Czyzewski family returned after several years, and they had welcomed two more children since our first session together!
Every session becomes another little chapter in your family’s history.
You can contact me here and tell me a little about your family, your children’s ages and the location you’re considering.
