Plus Ideas to Make Your Session Personal to You
Graduating from West Chester University? First off, congrats! Whether you’re wrapping up four years of hard work or finishing a master’s degree, this is such a milestone season worth documenting.
As a photographer who’s been lucky enough to work with WCU grads like Olivia and Amanda, I can tell you, your session doesn’t have to feel stiff or overly posed. The best graduation photos feel personal, fun and you. Below, I’m sharing some go-to locations around campus and a few easy ways to make your session meaningful (without adding stress to your already packed senior schedule).
This is one of the most iconic stops on campus and for good reason. The West Chester University sign is framed by stone and trees. There is a fountain next to it, which adds movement, elegance and energy to your photos.
It’s a rite of passage, posing with the ram. You can go classic and proud or totally playful. Group shots here always feel full of energy, especially when you’re with your roommates, teammates or best friends.
That gorgeous architecture? Perfect for cap and gown portraits. The arch near Asplundh gives off major commencement-day vibes. I love using this location when grads want something that feels slightly more elevated or dramatic. There are also pretty florals around this area!
WCU tradition says only seniors can walk this path. So of course, we’re going to celebrate it. There’s something symbolic about that final walk—bittersweet, epic and so full-circle. It’s one of my favorite spots for photos that feel reflective and grounded.
If your major kept you in one part of campus more than others, that’s worth documenting too. Nursing students might want to stop near Sturzebecker. Business grads might head toward the academic quad. You’ve spent so much time in those buildings, it’s a quiet nod to everything you’ve accomplished.
Bringing props can feel cheesy—but when they’re intentional? They make your photos stand out in the best way.
Here’s what works well:
Amanda and Olivia brought two of their best friends for a few group shots—and the photos were full of energy, laughter, and real friendship. Even if you’re the one being featured, having someone else there to hype you up always makes the experience better.
Golden hour may give you dreamy light, but it also brings crowds. In May, the popular campus spots fill up fast with grads and photographers, making it tough to move around and hit all your favorite locations. Booking your session earlier in the day—especially mid-morning or early afternoon—means better access, more flexibility, and less stress. Trust me, it’s worth it.
Whether you’re planning your graduation photos for West Chester University or still figuring out how to squeeze them in, I’m here to help make it feel easy and fun. From guiding you through the best locations to helping you feel confident in front of the camera, I’ve got you.
