Welcome! I'm Kayla and I want you to know that I'm here for you during this exciting season in your life. I love sharing wedding advice and galleries from the gorgeous venues I get to work with! Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section and let me know what you want to see more of. Happy Wedding Planning!
Let’s start with the facts: I’m a local. Okay, local at heart…but close enough. I’ve been vacationing in Cape May, New Jersey since I was a kid and it still feels like home. Summer after summer, I find myself drawn back to the same Victorian streets, delicious restaurants and air that feels like home.
Whether you’re planning your first trip or just looking to fall in love with this town all over again, here’s my go-to guide for the perfect Cape May weekend getaway. Packed with my favorite places to eat, stay, wine and explore.
Contact me if you’re looking for a photographer during your trip!
If you’re coming to Cape May, stay near the Washington Street Mall. It’s the heart of everything. Walkable, full of local shops, restaurants and the easiest access to both coffee in the morning and ice cream at night. (Priorities, right?)
Here are a few places I’ve personally stayed:
I haven’t stayed at Congress Hall yet, but it’s definitely next on my list. It’s one of the most iconic hotels in Cape May. Even if you’re not staying there, it’s worth stopping by for a drink or just to soak in the atmosphere… Which brings me to the start of our itinerary!
Check in, throw on something nautical and head to the Washington Street Mall. No itinerary, no pressure! Just wander. This is the Cape May way. Grab your honorary Cape May sweatshirt in one of the stores!
After your stroll through the Washington Street Mall, swing by for a round of mini golf before dinner! It’s the perfect way to ease into Cape May mode…laid-back and fun (unless you’re competitive like me and my husband, in which case, game on). Ocean Putt Golf is nearby and has that classic coastal charm. A little friendly competition before Frida’s? Yes, please. Winner picks the wine. 😉
Start at Mad Batter…a Cape May classic. Delicious, fun and a great way to ease into your day.
Head to the Cape May Lighthouse for some light exercise (AKA: stairs) and a beautiful view. There is also a little museum in there as well!
Tisha’s is a bit more relaxed than Frida’s, but just as delicious! Also BYOB. You’ll find something for everyone here. It’s a go-to in our rotation!
Grab a coffee at Congress Hall! Sit outside and soak it all in. This is Cape May. I could hang out here the entire day.
Book a carriage ride through the MAC Information Booth in the historic district. The storytelling is amazing and it’s such a fun way to see Cape May’s gorgeous Victorian streets. I took one a few years ago and still talk about it. (Yes, I’m due for another!)
There are a few ice cream spots around town, but I always go for Kohr Brothers. Simple, nostalgic and located right in the mall.
If you’ve got an extra day or even a few spare hours, head to Wildwood’s Boardwalk. It’s only a short drive and full of rides, games and energy. Great for kids or anyone craving a little more excitement.
Whether you’re planning a family vacation, celebrating an anniversary, or just want to capture this season of life in a place that feels like home… I’d love to photograph your time in Cape May!
This town has been part of my story since I was a kid and it means so much to help others remember their memories here too. Reach outif you’re interested in a session!
If you try any of the spots I mentioned (or find a new favorite!), I’d love to hear about it.
