When Taylor and Matt dreamed about their wedding, they knew having a big event was not what they wanted. Their Highlands Mansion and Gardens wedding was small, intentional and rooted in the presence of family and lifelong friends. With just 24 guests gathered, the day was filled with nature, inside jokes and timeless portraits beneath the willow trees and chandeliers on the mansion’s historic grounds.
One of the most thoughtful parts of the day was how it began. Taylor and Matt invited only their parents to arrive early. They wanted those private hours helping with final details, laughing through the nerves and stepping into their wedding attire, to be a memory shared with the people who had been with them from the very beginning. These pre-ceremony portraits inside Highlands Mansion, framed by its elegant chandelier and historic architecture, are some truly special moments.
Highlands Mansion and Gardens, located just outside of Philadelphia, is a favorite for couples planning an intimate Pennsylvania wedding. From its gorgeous lawns to the historic stone mansion, every corner tells a story. For Taylor and Matt, the willow tree just outside the mansion became one if their favorite elements. It is a natural backdrop for portraits and family photos that felt timeless yet personal.
Taylor and Matt’s guest list was curated with intention. Taylor’s immediate family: her parents, little brothers (and their girlfriends) and her grandparents sat together in the front rows. For Matt, his parents, paired with his closest aunts, uncles and cousins was essential. Together, the families formed a circle of love around the couple, joined by two lifelong friends who carried special roles.
Matt’s high school friend, Jim, officiated the ceremony and Taylor’s childhood best friend, Jenna, was also there, celebrating a friendship that started in sixth grade.
What stood out about this Highlands Mansion wedding was the intentional presence of family and the beauty of an intimate Philadelphia wedding ceremony. Every detail, from the soft floral designs by Ruby Rivers Floral to the bride’s Adrianna Papell gown, reflected quiet elegance.
Taylor and Matt’s day was a reminder that weddings don’t need to be large to be unforgettable. With a carefully chosen guest list, an intentional venue and vendors who felt like part of the story, their Chester County wedding was the perfect beginning to their marriage.
