Victoria and Demetri’s engagement session started exactly where their story began — in the city where they met. As nurses working together in Philadelphia, they first met at Temple. They’ve been side-by-side ever since, commuting on the PATCO from New Jersey into the city and heading home together after their shifts. It’s a rhythm that’s as much a part of their relationship as their inside jokes and shared coffee runs.
I couldn’t help but joke during their session that they’re the real-life Chip and Joanna Gaines — the way they balance each other so naturally, making everything they do together feel effortless. They can be together all day and feed off each other’s energy. Not every couple can do that!

When we arrived at Race Street Pier, we were greeted by one of those unexpected city moments — a free outdoor yoga class happening right at the edge of the water. That’s one of the best things about Philadelphia: you never really know what you’re going to show up to, yet somehow it always adds to the story. We took our time walking past the quiet rows of yoga mats, the sounds of the river and the bikers passing us in the background while we found our spot under the Ben Franklin Bridge.

Right beneath the Ben Franklin Bridge, Race Street Pier offers some of the best waterfront views in the city. The combination of open air, skyline views and iconic bridge lines makes it a dream. For Victoria and Demetri, it was more than just a pretty view, it was a return to the neighborhood where their paths first crossed.

After soaking in the river views, we made our way to Franklin Fountain — a nostalgic ice cream shop that feels like stepping back in time. Between the hand-scooped ice cream and the vintage details, it was the perfect way to wrap up the session.

If you’re dreaming of an engagement session in Philadelphia, Race Street Pier is a spot you can’t go wrong with. Its mix of skyline, waterfront and iconic bridge views offers endless variety in a single location. Pair it with a walk through Old City or a stop at Franklin Fountain and you’ll have a gallery that feels as full of personality as it does beautiful scenery.
If you’re ready to plan your own engagement photos in the city, get in touch here! I’d love to help you choose locations that are both intentional and beautiful.
