Westwynd Gardens Wedding Photographer | Emily & Blakely’s Garden Party Wedding in Chester County, PA

Emily had one request for her wedding day!

If the rain stopped, she hoped we could sneak away for a few portraits by the lake. (Of course that was now my MISSION!) 

Buuuut when the weather moved their outdoor ceremony into the greenhouse at Westwynd Gardens, that plan had to wait. Honestly though…standing inside the greenhouse as everyone gathered for the ceremony, it never felt like anyone was settling for a backup plan. The natural light pouring through the glass, the greenery surrounding the space and all of their family and friends together created such a beautiful place to begin their marriage.

Later that night, the rain finally let up!

While guests were enjoying the reception, we snuck outside for a few quiet minutes by the lake Emily had been hoping for all along. Those portraits ended up becoming some of my favorites from the entire gallery. Looking back now, the rain doesn’t feel like the story of the day because it naturally became part of it.

Why Do Couples Love Getting Married at Westwynd Gardens?

One thing I love about photographing weddings at Westwynd Gardens is that everything flows so naturally. Emily and Blakely spent the entire day in one place, from getting ready that morning to celebrating with family and friends during the reception. There wasn’t any rushing between locations or trying to make up time in the timeline. Instead, they were able to stay present and enjoy the people around them, which is exactly how a wedding day should feel!

The venue also gives couples so much variety without ever leaving the property. The greenhouse, gardens, lake and reception space each bring something different to the gallery while still feeling connected! That flexibility became especially special on Emily and Blakely’s wedding day because the venue handled the change in weather so seamlessly. When the rain cleared later that night, we were able to step outside for the lakeside portraits Emily had been dreaming about all along!

What Happens If It Rains at Westwynd Gardens?

If rain is one of your biggest wedding day worries, Emily and Blakely’s wedding is such a good reminder that a change in plans doesn’t have to change the experience of the day. The greenhouse at Westwynd Gardens feels bright, open and connected to the gardens outside, making it a beautiful ceremony space no matter what the forecast looks like!

A Wedding That Reflected Emily & Blakely

One thing I kept noticing throughout the day was how naturally everything reflected Emily and Blakely! Their bridesmaids each wore a different pastel dress, creating a soft spring color palette that fit the gardens beautifully. It felt relaxed, joyful and completely true to the vision they had planned from the beginning!

The personal details told their story just as much. Their signature drinks were named after their pets, Martini and Captain and a memory table honored loved ones who continue to hold an important place in their lives. They also chose to wait until the ceremony to see each other for the first time, making that walk down the aisle even more special. Watching their faces as they finally saw each other inside the greenhouse was such a sweet reminder that the best timeline is truly the one that feels most like you!

Is Westwynd Gardens a Good Wedding Venue for Wedding Photos?

Absolutely!! One of the reasons I love photographing weddings at Westwynd Gardens is how much variety exists without ever leaving the property. Throughout Emily and Blakely’s day, we moved between the greenhouse, the gardens, the lake and the reception space and every part of the gallery feels a little different while still telling one complete story. Also, don’t even get me started on the breathtaking architecture!

What I appreciate most isn’t just how beautiful the venue is. It’s how easy it is for couples to stay present. Instead of building extra travel into the timeline, Emily and Blakely spent that time talking with family, celebrating with friends and actually enjoying the day they had spent so long planning! Those moments always end up meaning more than another photo location ever could.

A Reception That Felt Like One Big Celebration

Once cocktail hour ended, the night REALLY took off quick 😂. The dance floor stayed full and you could tell everyone was simply happy to be there! Glow sticks came out, cowboy hats made an appearance and every song seemed to bring another group of people onto the dance floor. I waited all night for Blakely to do the worm (they prepared me during our timeline meeting!) and then finally during the 6 flags commercial song (IYKYK) the shirt came off and he broke out into the worm! It was epic. 

One of my favorite things about looking through this part of the gallery is seeing so many candid moments between family and friends! Those photographs tell just as much of the story as the portraits do. Years from now, they’ll remember the vibes, the hugs and all the little moments they didn’t even realize were happening around them.

Planning a Wedding at Westwynd Gardens

One thing Emily and Blakely’s wedding reminded me is that a fun wedding day isn’t built around perfect weather or a perfectly timed schedule. It’s built around creating space to enjoy the people you’re sharing it with. Even though the ceremony moved indoors, they never lost sight of what mattered most and I think is part of what made the day feel so special!
