South Jersey Engagement Photos at Red Bank Battlefield

When Mariah and Zach started planning their engagement session, they knew they wanted it to reflect who they are! They wanted a place that felt intentional, which meant including their dogs and a relaxed environment to spend time together.

Red Bank Battlefield ended up being the perfect fit. Located along the Delaware River in National Park, New Jersey, the property offers river views, open fields and the historic Whitall House, making it one of the most unique locations for South Jersey engagement photos.

What neither of us expected was just how personal this location would turn out to be!! As we walked the grounds, Mariah shared a family connection to Red Bank Battlefield that goes back generations and is directly tied to the history of the property itself. We’ll get to that story in a little bit because it’s honestly one of the coolest things I’ve learned during an engagement session!

Why Is Red Bank Battlefield One of the Best Locations for South Jersey Engagement Photos?

One of the reasons I love Red Bank Battlefield is the variety it offers within a single location. Couples can enjoy waterfront views, historic architecture, tree-lined paths and open green spaces without needing to travel between multiple spots.

The property is also home to the historic James and Ann Whitall House, a landmark dating back to the Revolutionary War. A Location Connected to Family History

What made this session even more special is that Red Bank Battlefield wasn’t just a beautiful location for Mariah and Zach, It’s actually part of Mariah’s family history!

James and Ann Whitall, the original owners of the historic Whitall House, are Mariah’s great-great-great grandparents. As we walked the property, she shared stories about her connection to the family and the role they played in the area’s history. It was literally so cool to hear all about the history of the property and family stories that happened right inside the famous home!

One of the first things Mariah shared with me was how important it was to have photographs of all four of them together! Their dogs are a huge part of everyday life, so including them felt like an easy decision.

Some of my favorite moments from the session happened with the dogs! It’s always so funny trying to get animals to stay put, especially when there are multiple! I always joke it’s just like my family sessions with toddlers LOL. Before the session, Mariah and Zach shared that they wanted photographs that felt connected to their lives. They love spending time with their dogs, watching sports and enjoying laidback weekends together.

They also planned a few photographs in Eagles and Phillies jerseys, adding another personal touch to the gallery. Small details like these often help engagement photos feel more connected to your relationship rather than feeling like something created for social media.
